Cancer is a serious disease many people suffer and many people die from cancer. When your a kid and find out that you are diagnose with cancer you can sometimes feel like life is over. Jeffrey Alper in After Ever After by Jordan Sonneblick is one of those boys. Many people know jeffrey in school even though he doesn't say much. They know he's the boy with cancer or the boy with a bald head.
As Jeffrey being a kid with cancer he has to face many challenges as people bullying him because he has a bald head. Jeffrey has never had a bestfriend that can understand what he had been through. As the new kid Thaddeus Ibsen came and sat next to jeffrey, jeffrey leaned over and said " hi, I'm jeffrey. I had cancer, too" page 3 thats how jeffrey met his bestfriend. He finally found someone that he can relate to what it feels like to have cancer. Going back to when jeffrey was diagnosed with cancer. He was four years old when he was told that he had cancer that's a pretty young age. " I remember being tired all the time, and having bruises all over my body" page 5 cancer can leave you with some terrible memories. Jeffrey stayed strong during the whole journey of having cancer. " the treatment is nothing compared to what happens after your cured" jeffrey says. That shows how much stress you go through because sometimes you get scared that you might die.
How does it feel to be told that you are cured from cancer and not sure if its actually true. Jeffrey was told that he was cured from cancer after 3 years of treatment but on the way back home from being cured he hears his parents talking about " we don't know if jeffrey will stay healthy" jeffrey didn't know what his parents ment by that.
